Management of Translation Projects

Level:
Foundation
Area:
Medical Communication
Code:
MCF13
Duration:
03:00:00
Workshop profile:
Understanding the nature of translation processes can be essential to successful globalization of a product. The workshop will be most useful to help identify and to recommend development strategies and techniques that can accelerate projects, improve quality, and lower translation costs. Although the workshop is aimed primarily at managers (including marketing, clinical trials and product managers), bilingual medical communicators will gain insight into good practices and will understand project milestones, allowing them to diversify their activities into a wider environment.
Objective:
To highlight the practicalities of managing medical translation projects from the first draft of the original text to the release of the translated document.
Content:
This workshop includes a description of the life cycle of a translation project and the management phases required to translate a medical document accurately (patient information leaflets, CE marked products) into a foreign language. In the first part of the session, processes, methodologies and best practices are discussed (from recruiting translators with relevant skills to the use of translation software and electronic resources for content management). The second part of the session addresses issues more particularly relevant to participants (Q&A, group discussion).
